Foreign Minister Lauds National Press as Key Partner in Human Rights and Development

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, commended His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's message on World Press Freedom Day, which affirmed the Kingdom's support for freedom of expression and the importance of responsible journalism. He said the message highlights the press as a vital force for promoting sustainable development, preserving national identity, and fostering values of coexistence and peace. The Minister also noted the significance of the Prime Minister's Press Award in encouraging media excellence.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister thanked HM the King and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said the occasion reflects the leadership's support for the national press and its role in driving forward Bahrain's progress with professionalism and commitment.

Dr. Al Zayani commended the Ministry of Information and the National Communication Centre for building professional capacity and modernising Bahrain's media infrastructure in line with global standards. He also commended the contribution of the Bahrain Journalists Association, particularly as it marks 25 years since its establishment, and wished the media community continued success in serving the nation.

The minister underscored the close partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and national media outlets, noting their shared efforts in advancing Bahrain's foreign policy goals, particularly in promoting international peace, sustainable development, and public freedoms. He affirmed the media's active involvement in the implementation of the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026) and its contribution to shaping the next phase of the plan covering 2027-2031.
