New york: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, conducted a strategic meeting with the diplomatic delegation appointed to serve on Bahrain's team for its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2026-2027. The meeting took place at Bahrain's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the UN, and Ambassador Khaled Yousef Al Jalahma, Undersecretary for Political Affairs, along with other members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation participating in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. Dr. Al Zayani congratulated the delegation on their selection, underscoring the significant diplomatic task ahead during Bahrain's tenure on the Security Council. The Foreign Minister highlighted the objectives the Kingdom aims to achieve, aligned with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasized the importance of Bahrain's membership on the Security Council, which offers an opportunity to project the Kingdom's diplomatic stance on the global stage. Dr. Al Zayani emphasized the necessity for the delegation to develop their skills and acquire specialized experience through active participation in the Council's mechanisms. He stressed the importance of teamwork, coordination, and close collaboration, reflecting the spirit of Team Bahrain, to effectively engage in the Council's political discussions and decision-making processes. The Foreign Minister also elaborated on the Security Council's pivotal role in maintaining international peace and security, noting that political work in the Council requires precision, continuous engagement, and the ability to build bridges of communication and cooperation with other member states. He expressed his best wishes for the delegation's s uccess in executing their responsibilities effectively.
