Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, praised the diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He emphasized that these initiatives aim to promote peace, tolerance, coexistence, and respect for cultural and religious diversity, which are essential for fostering human dignity and international solidarity. Such efforts are seen as key to building secure, sustainable, and prosperous societies.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani extended his congratulations to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. This day was adopted by the UN General Assembly under Resolution 269/79, following a proposal by the Kingdom of Bahrain through the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance.
The Foreign Minister highlighted Bahrain's royal initiatives, such as the Bahrain Declaration on Freedom of Religion and Belief, international conferences on dialogue among civilizations, and awards promoting tolerance and empowerment. These efforts have enhanced Bahrain's reputation as a beacon of openness and religious freedom. He also noted Bahrain's commitment to combating hate speech and promoting peace, citing His Majesty's proposal for a global convention to criminalize religious and other forms of hate speech.
Dr. Al Zayani emphasized the role of the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, which focuses on educational programs and community outreach to empower youth and promote understanding across cultures and faiths. This approach is aimed at preventing conflict and countering extremism.
He affirmed Bahrain's dedication to its humanitarian mission, inspired by the vision of His Majesty the King and guided by the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Bahrain is actively engaged in promoting just and lasting peace, dialogue to resolve disputes, and building bridges of mutual respect and understanding. The principles of peaceful coexistence align with the Kingdom's National Human Rights Plan, Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
