Foreign Minister Engages with IAEA Chief on Nuclear Cooperation

New york: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting focused on the Agency's efforts regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the monitoring and inspection of member states' activities.

According to Bahrain News Agency, discussions were held to enhance cooperation in technical expertise, support research and educational programmes, and develop qualified national cadres. These initiatives form part of the cooperation framework between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the IAEA on peaceful nuclear applications. The meeting also covered several other topics of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the UN in New York; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ali Khalid Al Araifi, Chief of Al Madar Centre.
