Cairo: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 163rd session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level. The session was chaired by Dr. Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates' Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and attended by Arab foreign ministers alongside Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers engaged in discussions covering a comprehensive agenda, which included recommendations from prior meetings of Arab ministers of finance and economy, other ministerial councils, and gatherings of senior officials and permanent delegates. They reviewed reports prepared by the General Secretariat aimed at enhancing joint Arab action.
The meeting also focused on current developments and political issues within the Arab region, concentrating on the Palestinian cause, the war on Gaza, Israeli violations in Jerusalem, and broader Arab affairs. Discussions extended to national security, international political developments, social affairs, human rights, economic matters, and legal issues.
The Council reached consensus on a series of decisions intended to bolster Arab cooperation across political, economic, and development fields. A notable decision was the adoption of a follow-up on initiatives proposed by the Kingdom of Bahrain at the 33rd Arab Summit. This decision, based on a report submitted by Bahrain, calls for the General Secretariat to present the outlined recommendations to the upcoming Arab League Summit in Iraq and coordinate with member states to gather feedback for submission to the 164th ministerial Council session.
The delegation from Bahrain included Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, Ambassador of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States; Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Turaifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and accompanying officials.
