Foreign Minister Discusses Regional Security with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister

Brussels: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in discussions with Maxime Pr©vot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, during the GCC-EU Regional Security and Cooperation Forum. The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between Bahrain and Belgium, examining avenues for enhancing cooperation in areas of shared interest.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions extended to regional developments, particularly the repercussions of the recent Iranian assaults on Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The ministers delved into the ramifications of the Strait of Hormuz closure, emphasizing its impact on international shipping, global trade, and regional security.

Dr. Al Zayani and Minister Pr©vot expressed their condemnation of the attacks on GCC states, showing solidarity with the affected nations and maritime workers. They highlighted the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz accessible for international navigation, opposing any state's control over the Strait or the imposition of transit fees. The meeting underscored the strong partnership between Bahrain and Belgium.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union.
