Foreign Minister Attends 2nd GCC-Japan Joint Ministerial Meeting in Kuwait

Kuwait city: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the second Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Japan, held today in the State of Kuwait.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the GCC side was chaired by Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait and chairman of the current session, while Japan's delegation was led by Iwaya Takeshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The meeting was also attended by Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC.

Both sides discussed means to enhance their longstanding ties within the framework of their strategic partnership. They reviewed joint cooperation and achievements that meet the aspirations and interests of both parties.

It was agreed that the GCC General Secretariat would follow up on implementing the joint action plan for 2024-2028, coordinating with member states and Japan.

The two sides also discussed recent regional and international developments. They exchanged views on addressing various challenges facing the region and the world and promoting comprehensive peace for the benefit of all peoples.

The Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation included Salah Ali Al Malki, Ambassador of Bahrain to Kuwait; Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Mohamed Abdulrahman Al Haidan, Chief of the Legal Affairs Sector and Acting Chief of the GCC Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
