Five-Year Jail Sentence for Defendant Convicted of Filming Vital Facilities During Iranian Attacks on Bahrain

Manama: The Head of the Terrorist Crimes Prosecution announced that the Lower Criminal Court has sentenced a defendant to five years in prison and ordered the confiscation of seized items after convicting him of illegally photographing sensitive facilities during the Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the case stemmed from a report submitted by the relevant security authority at the Ministry of Interior after the defendant was identified filming restricted strategic sites in violation of the law during the attacks. He was subsequently arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution said it launched an investigation that included questioning the defendant, remanding him in custody pending investigation, hearing witness testimonies, and assigning technical experts to examine the seized electronic device and prepare technical reports. Following completion of the investigation, the case was referred to the Lower Criminal Court, which issued its ruling after several hearings.

The Public Prosecution stressed that vital facilities and strategic sites are protected under the law due to their security importance, warning that photographing, publishing, or circulating related footage or information, particularly during exceptional security circumstances, constitutes a threat to national security and public safety and is punishable by law.

It affirmed that legal action will continue to be taken against anyone found involved in such acts or in the dissemination of related material by any means.
