FINC Chief Executive Leads GCC Financial Intelligence Units Committee Meeting

Manama: Shaikha May bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the Financial Intelligence National Center (FINC), presided over the third meeting of the Financial Intelligence Units Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting, which took place via videoconference, was part of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the GCC. It included participation from heads and representatives of financial intelligence units from the GCC member states.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing the latest developments in joint GCC initiatives and discussing ways to enhance cooperation and coordination among the financial intelligence units of the GCC member states. Key topics included developing mechanisms for information and expertise exchange to bolster the efficiency of GCC efforts in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

The meeting highlighted the significance of ongoing collaboration among GCC financial intelligence units. It emphasized the need to strengthen integration in the fight against financial crimes and terrorist financing risks. Additionally, the participants agreed on the importance of exchanging best practices in line with international standards to improve the effectiveness of the GCC framework.
