Riyadh: Shaikha May bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the Financial Intelligence National Centre (FINC) and Chairperson of the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing policy committee, led Bahrain's delegation at the 39th general meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), held in Riyadh. According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was complemented by the first regional conference on combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons, organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of MENAFATF. During the conference, Bahrain took the opportunity to showcase its significant experiences in regulating virtual assets, emphasizing its dedication to adhering to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards to ensure their legal, safe, and regulated use. The 39th general meeting of MENAFATF primarily focused on discussing various topics aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing s ystems. These discussions were aligned with the international standards set by FATF, reinforcing the collective commitment of the member countries to combat financial crimes in the region.
