Finance Minister, Uzbek Deputy Premier discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations

Finance and National Economy Minister, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, held a meeting with the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade, Sardor Umurzakov.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), hosted by Uzbekistan on September 2-4.

The minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Uzbek President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and those of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Uzbek Prime Minister, Abdulla Aripov.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa expressed thanks and appreciation to the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister for the warm welcome and hospitality, lauding the good organisation of the annual IDB Board of Governors’ meeting, the first to be held in person since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

They reviewed ways to enhance relations between Bahrain and Uzbekistan, particularly in the financial and economic fields.

The meeting also covered topics of common interest, in addition to the latest global economic developments.

The Minister of Finance extended an invitation to the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister to visit Bahrain in order to enhance the level of bilateral cooperation in many fields.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan expressed thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Finance and National Economy for the invitation, noting that it will contribute to bolstering cooperation between the two countries and their friendly peoples.
