Finance Minister and KFAED Acting Director General Sign Agreement for Bahrain Avenue Development

Manama: A financing agreement for the second phase of development of Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Avenue was signed by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, on behalf of the Government of Bahrain, and Waleed Shamlan Al Bahar, Acting Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), on behalf of KFAED. Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Ambassador of Kuwait to Bahrain, was present at the signing ceremony.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa highlighted the longstanding relations between Bahrain and Kuwait, which continue to grow under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of Kuwait. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to implementing development programs aimed at enhancing infrastructure and fostering an environment conducive to economic growth. This initiative aims to support economic growth and generate quality opportunities to achieve the development goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa also acknowledged the ongoing role of Kuwait in supporting development projects in Bahrain, commending KFAED's contributions in financing and supporting development and economic projects across Arab countries. The development of Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Avenue is one of the strategic projects in Bahrain, considered a vital artery connecting the Southern Governorate and the Capital. The project serves industrial, residential, and commercial areas and includes widening the avenue over a total length of 11 kilometers, adding service roads on both sides, and constructing five flyovers to improve accessibility to exhibitions, commercial, and administrative buildings.
