Executive and Legislative Authorities Discuss 2025-2026 State Budget

Manama: The executive and legislative authorities held a joint meeting today to continue consultations on the state budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal years. The meeting was chaired by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, led the session from the government side.

According to Bahrain News Agency, a number of ministers, Deputy Speakers of the Council of Representatives, chairpersons, members of the financial and economic affairs committees of both councils, and several officials attended the meeting. Al Musallam emphasized the legislative authority's commitment to supporting government programmes and developmental initiatives that serve the Kingdom's interests while considering financial conditions and the public good.

Al Musallam highlighted the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative authorities, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He underscored the shared commitment to discussing all perspectives regarding the state budget for 2025-2026 to support economic growth, maintain financial stability, and achieve national objectives.

Al Saleh emphasized that constructive dialogue between the two authorities regarding the state budget reflects a commitment to fostering cooperation and coordination to ensure financial and economic sustainability. He commended the ideas and proposals presented by members of both authorities to reach consensus on the state budget while ensuring the continuity of development projects.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa noted the importance of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities in projects that benefit the Kingdom, including the 2025-2026 state budget. He highlighted the importance of consultations in shaping the next phase, reinforcing Bahrain's position across sectors, and improving living standards for citizens.

The government team underscored its commitment to ensuring that the 2025-2026 state budget maintains positive economic growth while achieving financial sustainability objectives. The budget will allocate BHD 800 million for housing projects, the largest amount in Bahrain's history since the introduction of housing services.

Additionally, initiatives to strengthen the education sector were outlined, including developing curricula and continuing infrastructure projects. Plans to boost local production, food security, and other development initiatives in collaboration with the private sector were also discussed.
