Environment Minister Discusses Climate Cooperation with UN Officials

Manama: Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, recently met with Khaled Abdul Salam Al Mekwad, the UN Resident Coordinator in Bahrain, and Asmaa Shalabi, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting highlighted Bahrain's dedication to continuing its collaboration with the United Nations and its specialised agencies. This partnership aims to support global efforts in addressing climate change and achieving sustainable development goals.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in environmental and climate areas, with Dr. Bin Daina emphasizing Bahrain's commitment to being an active participant in shaping international decisions. This commitment is particularly important for protecting the interests of countries most affected by climate change.

Al Mekwad praised Bahrain's efforts and dedication to advancing climate and environmental initiatives. He also confirmed the UN system's willingness to support Bahrain in executing related programmes and initiatives.
