Manama: Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and Khalid Hussain Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group (GFG), have signed a joint framework aimed at advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency in Bahrain. This partnership underscores the government's commitment to sustainable energy practices and the implementation of Bahrain's National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Humaidan highlighted the significance of this framework as a reflection of the ministry's dedication to environmental sustainability. He praised Gulf Air Group for its proactive approach to sustainable energy solutions and its initiatives in capacity-building. This collaboration is seen as a crucial step in promoting energy sustainability, aligning with the government's broader environmental sustainability vision.
Minister Humaidan also stressed the importance of the private sector's involvement in achieving renewable energy goals. He recognized Gulf Air Group's contributions to national efforts in optimizing energy use and adopting advanced technologies, which are vital for meeting the country's renewable energy objectives.
Chairman Taqi emphasized that the strategic partnership with the Ministry aligns with Gulf Air Group's ongoing initiatives to support Bahrain's transition towards a low-carbon, sustainable economy. He reaffirmed the group's commitment to national directives that encourage renewable energy and support sustainable development initiatives.
Taqi noted that Gulf Air Group's commitment is in line with Bahrain's targets to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 and to reach net-zero emissions by 2060. This aligns with the Kingdom's vision for a greener and more sustainable future.
The newly signed framework will facilitate technical support and consultancy services from the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs to Gulf Air Group. This support aims to integrate renewable energy solutions and enhance energy efficiency across the group's buildings and facilities.
