Egyptian President and Cypriot Counterpart Discuss Regional Developments

Cairo: Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, received a telephone call from Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, in which both sides discussed the latest regional developments. The Cypriot president commended Egypt's efforts to contain the escalation, affirming his country's commitment to continue close consultations and exchange views on means to reduce tension.

According to Bahrain News Agency, President El Sisi affirmed Egypt's full solidarity with Arab countries and its categorical rejection of any attacks against them, warning of the negative economic repercussions of continued escalation at the regional and international levels. The Egyptian President stressed the importance of resolving crises through peaceful means to spare the peoples of the region further tension.

According to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, the call also stressed the need to adhere to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and implement its second phase, and addressed means to strengthen bilateral relations in the domains of energy and trade, as well as Egypt's relations with the European Union in light of Cyprus's presidency of the Council of the European Union.
