Cairo: The House of Representatives and the Senate of the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed their condemnation of the attacks carried out by Iran against Gulf states and Jordan, describing them as a violation of state sovereignty, a threat to regional security and stability, and a breach of international law and principles of good neighbourliness.
According to Bahrain News Agency, a joint statement by the House of Representatives and the Senate said the attacks undermine the broader Arab security system and stressed Egypt's full solidarity with Gulf states and Jordan in confronting these threats, based on longstanding ties, strategic partnership, and shared interests.
The statement underlined that the security of Gulf states and Jordan is an integral part of Egypt's national security, noting that any infringement on their sovereignty directly affects Egypt's supreme interests. It called for a unified Arab position that rejects attempts to impose realities by force.
The House of Representatives and the Senate also highlighted Egypt's diplomatic efforts under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, reflecting awareness of the challenges facing the region.
They warned of the economic repercussions of targeting the Gulf region and its vital waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, citing risks to international navigation and global energy and food supply chains.
The statement called for the development of comprehensive regional arrangements to strengthen collective Arab security, while maintaining commitment to political and diplomatic solutions to avoid further escalation.
The House of Representatives and the Senate reaffirmed that Egypt will continue to support regional stability and uphold the sovereignty of Arab states, maintaining its role in safeguarding Arab national security.
