Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty recently engaged in a telephone conversation with Magnus Brunner, the European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration. Dr. Abdelatty underscored the significance of strengthening the ongoing collaboration with the EU through an integrated strategy that connects migration with development, aiming to tackle the underlying causes of irregular migration.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the dialogue between the two officials focused on exploring avenues to enhance cooperation between Egypt and the EU concerning migration issues. Dr. Abdelatty stressed that migration is a common challenge for Egypt and the EU, necessitating increased coordination built on shared interests to bolster stability and development efforts across the region.
Furthermore, Dr. Abdelatty elaborated on the substantial responsibilities Egypt faces due to hosting nearly 10 million foreigners, including refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers, which creates significant economic strains on the country.
