Cairo: Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, met with Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf stated that Abdelatty emphasised the importance of enhancing Somali unity to address current security challenges and restore stability in line with the aspirations of the Somali people.
He also underlined the necessity of advancing cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, which remain among the key threats to the region's security and stability.
The Somali Minister expressed appreciation for the Arab Republic of Egypt's support at all levels and emphasised his country's commitment to further develop bilateral relations in a way that serves the shared interests of both nations.
Both ministers also highlighted the importance of continued coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums to address common challenges facing the Horn of Africa.
