Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, engaged in a telephone conversation with Johann Wadephul, the newly appointed German Foreign Minister. During the call, Dr. Abdelatty extended his congratulations to Wadephul on his new role and highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers explored ways to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the involvement of German companies in Egypt's infrastructure development. The discussion also included fostering investments in renewable energy and cooperation in the transfer of skilled labour.
Dr. Abdelatty sought German support for Egypt's interests within the European Union and emphasized the importance of expediting the adoption of the European financial package.
The conversation also touched on Egypt's initiatives to curb illegal migration and the economic impact of hosting 10 million foreigners. Dr. Abdelatty outlined Egypt's mediation efforts aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating humanitarian assistance, stressing the necessity of creating an independent Palestinian state to secure peace in the region.
