Egypt and Trkiye Strengthen Defence Ties with New Agreement

Ankara: Egypt and Trkiye signed letters of intent establishing a framework to strengthen defence cooperation and develop joint military capabilities at the conclusion of the official visit of Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, to Ankara, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

According to Bahrain News Agency, during the visit, Lieutenant General Zaher held talks with Yasar Gler, Trkiye's Minister of National Defence, on ways to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries. He also met Haluk G¶rgn, Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries, to discuss opportunities for joint defence manufacturing and broader defence industry cooperation.

The letters of intent establish a framework for future cooperation between the two countries. G¶rgn said enhanced cooperation in the defence industry would contribute to regional security and strengthen the capabilities of both countries.
