Education Ministry to Implement IB Training Programmes for MYP School Leaders

Manama: Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, affirmed the ministry's readiness to implement two training programmes in cooperation with the International Baccalaureate (IB) for selected leaders of government schools nominated to introduce the Middle Years Programme (MYP), aimed at strengthening implementation and achieving its objectives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Khater said that the programmes include two parallel tracks to ensure comprehensive development. The first programme, titled 'Head of Schools', is designed for school principals. It focuses on aligning IB philosophy with national identity and local policies, and on developing administrative strategies that support inquiry-based learning environments. It also covers organisational requirements to ensure programme sustainability and quality.

The second programme, "Leading the Learning", targets school coordinators and focuses on enhancing the role of educational leaders as facilitators of continuous learning, while highlighting innovative assessment methods that enhance students' critical and analytical thinking skills.

The undersecretary noted that the programmes form part of the ministry's preparations to implement the MYP in government schools in Bahrain, in line with national efforts to enhance the quality of educational outcomes and equip national cadres with advanced leadership and educational expertise. She added that the partnership with IB goes beyond knowledge transfer to localising international standards in a manner that aligns with sustainable development requirements and national values, while empowering students with creativity and global thinking skills within a strong national framework.
