Driver Remanded for Endangering Child After Leaving Her in Vehicle

Budaiya: The Family and Child Prosecution has ordered the pre-trial detention of a private driver who left a young girl in his unlicensed transport vehicle. The incident occurred when the driver failed to ensure that the vehicle was empty after dropping off students.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the case was reported by the child’s father to Budaiya Police Station after the girl was found in the vehicle following her return from school. The driver admitted to not checking the vehicle after completing his route. When his car broke down, he placed it on a recovery truck without realizing that the child was still inside, asleep. He only discovered her presence after being contacted by the family.

The Prosecution stated that it continues to focus on addressing violations related to student transport. It urged parents to utilize licensed drivers who must adhere to safety procedures, including ensuring vehicles are empty before being secured and left.
