Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director General of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, received Okai Asako, the Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ambassador Koji Kaneko.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid praised the robust bilateral relations between Bahrain and Japan. He emphasized the significance of the alternative sentencing initiative and the open prison program, which are pivotal projects in the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also noted the continued support from the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
During the visit, the delegation participated in a field tour of the open prison complex. They were shown its state-of-the-art facilities, which include technology-equipped educational buildings, a sports club with a fully integrated health center, and designated areas for mental games and social interaction.
Ambassador Osaka expressed her appreciation for the advancements at the complex and commended Bahrain's efforts in rehabilitation and reform. She acknowledged Bahrain's forward-thinking vision in this area.
