Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights Meets Chairperson of Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee

Cairo: Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a meeting with Adviser Mohammed Ali Al Shehhi, Chairperson of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee. This meeting was held alongside the 56th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights at the Arab League General Secretariat.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was also attended by Nawar Abdulla Al Mutawa, Human Rights Affairs Advisor at the Ministry and Committee member. During the session, Dr. Bucheeri extended his congratulations to Al Shehhi on his election as Chairperson and expressed his hopes for the success of the Committee's efforts in safeguarding human rights across the Arab region, aligning with the Arab Charter on Human Rights.

The discussions were centered on enhancing cooperation between the Charter Committee and member states. The emphasis was placed on the exchange of expertise and the development of joint mechanisms aimed at strengthening the human rights framework in the Arab world.

The meeting also shed light on the Kingdom of Bahrain's ongoing efforts in the realm of human rights. It underscored the significance of a unified Arab vision that respects state sovereignty and national specificities, while adhering to fundamental principles of human dignity and compliance with the standards set by the Arab League.

Dr. Bucheeri highlighted the necessity of promoting the Charter Committee's role in advancing the Arab Charter on Human Rights provisions and in raising awareness about it as a critical reference in the field of human rights within the Arab region.
