Director General of Alternative Sentencing Engages with Moroccan Public Prosecution Delegation

Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing at the Ministry of Interior, welcomed a delegation from the Presidency of the Public Prosecution of the Kingdom of Morocco. The visit focused on Bahrain's experience with alternative sentencing, modern rehabilitation programmes, and the enhancement of expertise exchange in restorative justice.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid highlighted the robust relations between Bahrain and Morocco, emphasizing the growing cooperation in judicial, legal, and security fields. He presented Bahrain's development of a restorative justice system through the Alternative Sentencing Programme and the Open Prisons Programme, which align with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's vision promoting tolerance and humane justice.

Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid also acknowledged the support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with guidance from General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior. The Moroccan delegation was provided with a visual presentation outlining the implementation stages of the Alternative Sentencing Programme and Open Prisons Programme, showcasing key outcomes in rehabilitation and reintegration.

The delegation participated in a field tour of the Open Prisons Complex, observing training and educational facilities, professional workshops, and the comprehensive rehabilitative environment that supports the reintegration of beneficiaries. They expressed appreciation for Bahrain's pioneering efforts in restorative justice, commending the Kingdom's advanced model in applying alternative sentencing and supporting reintegration.
