Derasat CEO and UNDP Representative Discuss Future of Digital Transformation in Bahrain

Abu dhabi: Abdulla Mohamed Alahmed, CEO of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), met with Asmaa Shalabi, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting addressed the enhancement of cooperation between the two entities in preparation for the upcoming Human Development Report, titled 'Digital Transformation in the Kingdom of Bahrain'.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the report aims to showcase the progress achieved in Bahrain's digital transformation and its impact on economic and social development, government service efficiency, and digital inclusion. Discussions also focused on the exchange of technical and knowledge expertise in areas such as emerging technologies, innovation, and digital governance. This collaboration seeks to effectively utilise digital solutions to advance sustainable development.

The meeting further explored governance and coordination mechanisms between Derasat and UNDP to support national efforts aimed at fostering comprehensive development and building institutional capacity amid the rapid pace of digital transformation. Abdulla Mohamed Alahmed highlighted the significance of the partnership with UNDP in supporting national initiatives related to human and economic development, lauding the strong and productive relations between both parties.

Asmaa Shalabi expressed her appreciation for the collaboration with Derasat and reaffirmed UNDP's ongoing commitment to supporting Bahrain in its development projects and enhancing its digital readiness in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
