Manama: His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace, where a range of significant issues were discussed, including housing initiatives, the national budget, and Bahrain's international commitments.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cabinet extended its best wishes for the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr holiday to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the people of Bahrain, and all Arab and Islamic nations. The meeting expressed gratitude for His Majesty the King's directive on the disbursement of 50,000 housing units, emphasizing the government's commitment to implementing housing programs in line with His Majesty's vision.
The Cabinet reviewed a memorandum on Bahrain's general budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, demonstrating the Kingdom's focus on financial sustainability while meeting citizens' needs. Key budget priorities include enhancing government services, accelerating housing services, and strengthening education and healthcare sectors.
In addition to discussions on national issues, the Cabinet addressed Bahrain's international role by approving a memorandum regarding the Kingdom's candidacy for non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-2027 term. This move underscores Bahrain's commitment to global engagement and cooperation.
Other significant topics included the Cabinet's reaffirmation of its dedication to combatting climate change, celebrating Bahraini Youth Day, and recognizing the International Day of Conscience. The Cabinet also reviewed several memorandums related to legal and legislative affairs, education quality, and the progress of key projects under the Ministry of Justice's 2023-2026 work plan.
Reports on Bahrain's participation in international ministerial meetings and planned external visits by Bahraini officials were also noted, highlighting Bahrain's ongoing diplomatic efforts and international collaboration.
