Deputy Prime Minister Receives Upgraded Identity Card with Advanced Features

Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, received Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), who presented him with the upgraded version of the new identity card. The card is a key strategic project recently launched alongside the Innovation Lab and the self-service centre.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to advancing its digital infrastructure in line with international standards. He emphasised that these efforts support the government's initiatives to enhance services for citizens and facilitate business operations.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah underscored the government's commitment to accelerating digital transformation through strategic initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of government services within a secure and reliable digital environment that ensures data confidentiality and protection.

The Deputy Prime Minister was briefed on the new identity card's advanced security, technical, and digital features.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah commended the efforts of the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication (MICT), chaired by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, as well as the iGA and relevant entities, for their role in implementing these strategic projects that support Bahrain's digital transformation.
