Deputy Prime Minister Chairs Meeting to Address Real Estate and Infrastructure Projects

Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the 290th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects. During the session, the committee reviewed several real estate development projects referred by the Cabinet. It tasked the Survey and Land Registration Bureau and the Real Estate Regulatory Authority with compiling records of debts, obligations, and rights related to these projects. This is part of preparations to assess the possibility of classifying them as stalled projects in accordance with Legislative Decree 66 of 2014 With Respect to the Settlement of Stalled Property Development Projects, following the completion of all relevant data, documents, and records.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee also explored ways to enhance collaboration between the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the private sector, and reviewed the mechanism for the periodic evaluation of standards and requirements for fire safety in existing buildings. Furthermore, the committee examined the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities' programme for rehabilitating natural springs. It also followed up on measures to ensure the sustainability of vegetation cover, maintain the health of trees across various regions, and reviewed updates on sewage sector projects that support the afforestation plan.

The session concluded with a review of periodic reports on updates on the afforestation plan, progress of the Building Permit System (Benayat), governance procedures for expropriation and compensation at the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, performance indicators under the service level agreement of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, and performance indicators for completing surveying transactions at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau.
