Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the 304th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure. The committee extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in anticipation of Eid Al Adha, expressing hopes for continued progress for the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab and Islamic nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee acknowledged the commendations by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the contributions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa towards the success of the afforestation plan and the Bahrain Mangroves initiative. The committee also expressed gratitude for the efforts of Bahrain's defence and security authorities, along with relevant entities, in managing the maintenance and damage control of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company's facilities following the Iranian attacks. Residents in nearby areas were thanked for their cooperation.
The committee celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the National Initiative for Agricultural Development to implement training programs for entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. They also praised the joint visit by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Minister of Works to the Manama waterfront development project to assess progress.
Participation of the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications in the European Union local presidency meeting, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus to Bahrain, was commended, highlighting the Kingdom's infrastructure development efforts. The Ministry of Works was thanked for completing infrastructure development in Block 1056, Zallaq.
The importance of an inspection visit by the Minister of Industry and Commerce to Salman Port's commercial and logistics facilities was highlighted, focusing on infrastructure readiness and supply chain efficiency. The committee welcomed the launch of advanced digital government services by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, the Ministry of Works, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, aimed at simplifying procedures and enhancing citizen services.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah instructed the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture to enhance oversight of parks and public facilities and directed the Ministry of Works, in coordination with the Electricity and Water Authority, to identify areas in need of land leveling and road elevation for connecting to utility networks.
The committee reviewed its agenda, including proposals for wastewater sector efficiency, real estate sector framework development, and assigning vehicle parking services to the private sector. They examined the first-phase plan of the main roads lighting development project, replacing traditional lighting with energy-efficient LED lights, and approved a study for the second phase focusing on secondary roads.
Finally, the committee was briefed on the progress of the executive programme for implementing the Model Unified Data Dictionary for Infrastructure standard in Bahrain.
