Brazzaville: President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo announced his candidacy for the presidential election scheduled for March 15, during a visit to Bambou Mingali, around 60 kilometres north of Brazzaville.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ruling Congolese Labour Party had unanimously endorsed President Sassou Nguesso as its candidate on December 30, extending a political career spanning more than four decades.
