Customs President Reviews Readiness of Unified Customs Clearance Centre

Manama: Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, visited the Unified Customs Clearance Centre at Khalifa Bin Salman Port to review its readiness to operate as a remote electronic service centre under the Government Service Centres Evaluation Programme.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit was attended by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) and Chairman of the Government Service Centres Evaluation Committee, along with members of the committee. Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad stated that the centre's completion of the electronic transformation requirements marks an important milestone in the development of customs services and reflects Customs Affairs' commitment to adopting advanced digital solutions to deliver faster, more efficient, and flexible services.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad emphasized that Customs Affairs continues to expand its electronic services through the adoption of modern technologies and innovation to simplify procedures, reduce processing time, and enhance customer satisfaction, supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain's digital transformation goals.

He noted that the Unified Customs Clearance Centre is among the first physical service centres within Customs Affairs to join the Government Service Centres Evaluation Programme, launched in 2017 under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He added that the centre achieved full compliance with the programme's standards.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad also highlighted the centre's achievements under the programme, having received the Silver Shield in 2019 and the Gold Shield annually from 2020 to 2024.
