CSB issues instructions on working hours in Ramadan

Following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) issued instructions on working hours during the holy month of Ramadan.

Civil Service Bureau (CSB) Chief Ahmed bin Zayed Al Zayed said that the official working hours during the holy month of Ramadan will be from 8:00am to 2:00pm for employees working according to the regular working hours, reducing the weekly working hours to 30 hours per week.

He added that for employees working on extended hours, official duty hours during the holy month of Ramadan will be from 8:00am to 2:45pm from Sunday to Wednesday, and from 8:00am to 2:30pm on Thursday.

The CSB Chief noted that employees working on the flexible system, the maximum number of flexible hours for staff working in accordance with this system will not exceed one hour per day in all normal, long and special working hours. Therefore, employees will complete the flexible hours after the completion of their basic hours.

He affirmed that employees whose jobs require working over the reduced working hours, are compensated for overtime according to the overtime policy adopted by CSB.

The compensation is in the form of payment for overtime hours, or by providing rest hours equivalent to overtime working hours based on the decision of the government entity of the employee as well as the availability of funds for the payment of such wages.
