Coast Guard: Suspicious boat crashes into marine patrol; policeman dies, two others injured

As part of the commitment of the Coast Guard to carry security and legal duties and confront violations, including the current shrimping ban, the coast guard patrols instructed a boat suspected of catching shrimps to follow orders and stop.

However, the boat intentionally changed direction and crashed into the patrol in an attempt to escape, causing the death of a policeman of the Coast Guard and injuring two others who were later transported to the hospital for treatment.

Four Asians were arrested onboard at the Shahrakan beach. Investigation revealed various violations related to the boat’s registration and licence and the use of runaway workers. The automatic identification device was off.

Legal proceedings were taken and the Public Prosecution was notified.
