Hodeida: The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen announced that it had carried out a proportionate military response against what it described as legitimate Houthi military targets in Hodeida following attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Coalition Spokesperson Major General Turki Al Malki stated that the attacks on commercial vessels represented a terrorist act threatening one of the world's most crucial maritime trade routes. He highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and their government. The coalition's response was directed at military sites used by the Houthi militia to disrupt commercial shipping in the Red Sea, achieving its operational objectives in line with customary international humanitarian law.
Al Malki clarified that Hodeida Port was not targeted and Yemeni ports, including Hodeida, Ras Isa, and Salif, remain accessible for maritime navigation and the reception of commercial goods. He also mentioned that air traffic to and from Yemeni airports continues to operate, while accusing the Houthi militia of blocking flights to Sana'a International Airport.
He further stated that the coalition would persist in executing all necessary operational measures to safeguard the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's interests, national assets, and vessels, cautioning that any additional aggressions by the Houthi militia would prompt a decisive response.
