Manama: The Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, in cooperation with the Young Trader Foundation, has successfully concluded the Stars of Safety training programme. This initiative targeted children aged 12 to 16, aiming to equip them with the skills necessary to conduct awareness lectures for their peers on the potential dangers present in cyberspace.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Colonel Ahmed Saad Al Rumaihi, Director General of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, emphasized the significance of empowering the younger generation to discuss the risks associated with cyberspace. This initiative is part of broader efforts to foster a safer society. The Directorate, through the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit, is committed to organizing similar programmes to extend their reach to more children, raise awareness, and bolster digital safety, aligning with the National Strategy for Child Protection in Cyberspace (2023 - 2026). This strategy aims to secure a safe digital environment for children.
Col. Al Rumaihi underscored the value of the training programme, which featured interactive workshops on identifying digital risks, the significance of digital privacy, safe usage of social media applications, and the correct procedures for reporting risks. Participants were provided with advanced educational resources and tools to improve their communication and presentation skills.
The children who completed the programme were awarded certified trainer badges, which qualify them to deliver awareness lectures to their peers and fellow students in schools and at various student events.
