Manama: The Child and Mother Welfare Association inaugurated Palm Paper Exhibition 6, organised in cooperation with Makaan Art Gallery, in the presence of Sara Ahmed Buhejji, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), along with art enthusiasts and supporting entities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Buhejji emphasized the significance of initiatives that celebrate national heritage and traditional crafts in fostering local creativity and bolstering Bahraini identity. She highlighted the involvement of Bahraini artists and students from international baccalaureate programmes, whose works provided contemporary artistic interpretations inspired by palm paper, reflecting the Kingdom's cultural heritage.
Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Child and Mother Welfare Association, stated that the exhibition mirrors the Association's dedication to nurturing young talents and preserving Bahraini heritage through innovative artistic platforms. She mentioned that all artworks were crafted using paper made from palm fronds, with the participation of 37 artists and 28 school students. This marks the first involvement of school students in the exhibition, with plans to expand participation in future editions.
She further added that the sixth edition of the exhibition aims to promote recycled paper industries, encourage the use of natural materials in art, and enhance environmental awareness and creativity among youth.
