Manama: The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) organised a celebration for Bahraini Women's Day, in the presence of Governor Khalid Humaidan, Executive Management, and female employees. This year, the celebration was held under the theme "Women, worthy partner in nation building," in line with the National Strategy for the Advancement of Bahraini Women endorsed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in 2005. According to Bahrain News Agency, the Governor emphasised the significance of celebrating this occasion, noting that the CBB takes pride in the contributions and pivotal role of Bahraini women across all sectors. He highlighted their valuable and equal participation, supported by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in strengthening women's roles as key partners in nation-building. He also commended the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW, for its dedication to advancing women and promoting equal opportunities to enhance their contributions to national development. Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was the guest of honour and speaker at the ceremony, in her capacity as a CBB Board member. Shaikha Mai shared insights from her extensive experience on the Board of Directors and in financial investigation. She is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Financial Intelligence at the Ministry of Interior and has more than 15 years of experience in justice, law, and order. Shaikha Mai is the first Arab woman in the Middle East and North Africa to serve as Director of the Financial Investigation Directorate and is the regional representative of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units. She is also the first woman to serve as a Board Member of the Central Bank of Bahrain. Notably, women at the CBB constitute 4 8% of total employees, with 45% in management positions. Additionally, women make up 43% of the Board of Directors.
