Manama: Bahrain Bourse (BHB), in collaboration with the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), successfully participated in the HSBC GCC Exchanges London Conference 2025. The event took place on June 16 in London and aimed to attract international investment and enhance relationships with global investors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference saw a high-level Bahraini delegation in attendance. This included Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Yusef Abdullah Al Yusef, Chairman of Bahrain Bourse, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse, and representatives from the Central Bank of Bahrain, the Ministry of Finance and National Economy (MOFNE), and Bahrain Bourse.
The conference, organized by HSBC, gathered senior leaders from all seven GCC stock exchanges along with a global network of investors. The primary focus was on promoting capital market development and highlighting investment opportunities within the region. Khalid Humaidan participated in a session titled "Bahrain's Financial Sector: Reform Momentum, Market Confidence, and Talent-Led Growth," moderated by Joseph Ghorayeb, CEO of HSBC Bahrain. The discussion focused on Bahrain's financial reforms, market confidence, and talent development as growth drivers.
The event offered HSBC clients, institutional stakeholders, and fund managers the chance to engage with leaders from the region's capital markets. It also presented opportunities to explore emerging prospects across the GCC, with an emphasis on regulatory and market advancements.
On the event's sidelines, Bahrain's delegation conducted one-on-one meetings with international fund and asset managers. These meetings offered insights into Bahrain's capital markets, investment opportunities, and recent regulatory changes aimed at improving transparency and efficiency. Additionally, listed companies from GCC Exchanges, including Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) from Bahrain Bourse, participated in these meetings.
On June 17, Bahrain Bourse took part in a Senior Traders Forum, interacting with senior traders from major global asset management firms. This forum encouraged strategic discussions and direct dialogues, further strengthening institutional investor relations and sharing regional market insights.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse, emphasized Bahrain Bourse's commitment to positioning Bahrain as a gateway for regional and international investment. Joseph Ghorayeb, CEO of HSBC Bahrain, highlighted the GCC's financial ecosystem as a capital magnet and HSBC's role in supporting Bahrain Bourse's vision, including their recent involvement in a $2.5 billion dual-tranche bond.
The participation of all GCC exchanges at the conference underscores the commitment to promoting collaboration, fostering partnerships, and driving the growth of capital markets across the GCC region.
