Phnom Penh: Cambodia has reported its fourth death this year due to the spread of bird flu in the country, involving an 11-year-old child. Tests conducted by the Pasteur Institute in Cambodia confirmed that the child, who lived in a village in Kampong Speu province in the west of the country, died from the H5N1 avian influenza virus.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Health stated that its emergency response team is working with local authorities to investigate the source of the outbreak in the village and to implement appropriate technical protocols to prevent further transmission. The ministry is taking steps to control the spread of the virus and protect the population.
The ministry said that the antiviral drug Tamiflu will be distributed to individuals potentially exposed due to contact with suspected cases. Additionally, health awareness campaigns will be conducted in the affected villages to educate residents on preventive measures and symptoms of the virus.
