Manama: The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is finalising preparations to launch Hawa Al Manama, an event scheduled from December 25, 2025, to January 15, 2026, as part of the Celebrate Bahrain season. The event will offer interactive experiences inspired by Bahrain's cultural and economic transformation between the 1960s and 1990s.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Sara Ahmed Buhejji, Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, emphasized the significance of the event's location in the old souq, highlighting its historical importance and its role in shaping the economic and social identity of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The old souq is considered one of Bahrain's most important urban landmarks, cherished by both Bahrainis and visitors from neighboring GCC countries with shared historical and cultural ties.
Buhejji noted that showcasing the capital's cultural and architectural heritage aligns with the objectives of the Tourism Strategy 2022-2026, adding diversity to the tourism experiences available in the Kingdom. Hawa Al Manama will feature cultural and heritage activities designed to recreate authentic settings and experiences, with a program that includes performances, historical exhibitions, and displays that portray daily life in the souq across past decades. The event will also offer interactive activities for families and visitors of all ages.
Dedicated areas for traditional food and local crafts will be available, along with a sweet-making feature celebrating Bahraini flavors and Manama's culinary heritage. The event will encompass traditional games, carnivals, cultural showcases, and shopping experiences at locations such as Al Zainah Plaza, Yateem Centre, traditional shops, and antique stores. These elements aim to merge the past and present, inviting visitors to explore commercial areas integral to Manama's identity.
