Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Dr. Nasser Qaedi, led the Bahraini delegation to the 49th United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Regional Commission for The Middle East Conference, in Jordan. Zurab Pololikashvili, the UNWTO Secretary-General, was present.
The conference spotlighted many topics and reviewed the Secretary-General's report for 2022-2023 as well as the artistic and regional activities. It also highlighted views and priorities of the member states of the Regional Committee regarding the organization's work programme, the financial budget for the period 2024-2025 and the long-term vision.
Dr. Nasser Qaedi, congratulated Oman on being chosen to host the fiftieth meeting of the UNWTO Regional Committee for the Middle East in 2024.
Dr. Qaedi expressed pleasure in representing Bahrain in the prominent regional event, which reflects the tourism importance of the Middle East region at the global level. He affirmed commitment to providing a diversified tourism product, enriching the regional tourism sector and increasing its contribution to the growth of the economies of the Arab Gulf and the Middle East.
Dr. Qaedi noted that the authority seeks to enhance cooperation with the regional committee and neighboring countries with regard to tourism projects and initiatives aimed at developing the tourism product at the regional level and attracting more tourists from around the world.
