Manama: The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the British University of Bahrain (BUB) to enhance the national innovation ecosystem and nurture young talent in space sciences and applications.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Mohammed Al Aseeri, CEO of the BSA, and Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, President of the BUB. The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation in knowledge and expertise exchange, joint scientific research and technical studies, and the provision of specialised training opportunities. It also includes organising workshops and awareness programmes to enhance students' academic and practical skills.
The MoU further covers joint community awareness initiatives and educational field visits. These initiatives aim to provide students with direct insight into the space sector, thereby strengthening the connection between academic study and practical application.
Dr. Al Aseeri stated that the partnership reflects the Agency's commitment to building national capabilities in space sciences and applications, as well as strengthening cooperation with academic institutions. He expressed hope for expanding the collaboration to include joint space-related initiatives that support innovation and encourage entrepreneurship among Bahraini youth.
Dr. Janahi highlighted that the agreement would support students' interest in space sciences, identifying the field as crucial for academic and professional development. He noted that the MoU aims to provide valuable training opportunities and enhance students' readiness in space-related and associated scientific disciplines.
The partnership is part of the Bahrain Space Agency's ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with local academic institutions, empower youth participation in scientific fields, and promote emerging sectors. This aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain's vision for a knowledge-based and technologically advanced economy.
