Manama: Dr. Maryam Hasan Mustafa, Chief Executive of the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), emphasised the authority's ongoing commitment to addressing the evolving needs of educational institutions, particularly those specialising in special education. She highlighted the adoption of forward-looking policies aimed at fostering a competitive, high-quality education system that is inclusive and responsive to all students, including those with special needs, creating a more engaging and integrated learning environment.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mustafa referred to Edict (55) of 2025, which promulgates the general framework for reviewing special education needs, describing it as a key milestone in advancing Bahrain's efforts to build a fully inclusive education system.
The authority has already begun implementing the framework, launching a project to evaluate the performance of special education institutions across the Kingdom.
She said that the initiative reflects the growing importance of the special education sector and forms a central part of an integrated education system, designed to ensure that students with special needs learn in supportive and stimulating environments. The framework also represents a major step in promoting innovation in education and raising quality standards across all institutions in Bahrain.
Dr. Mustafa added that the project is a priority within the authority's 2023 - 2026 strategy and is among the region's leading initiatives. It aligns with global best practices in special education, emphasising inclusive, high-quality learning environments that nurture students' overall development, curiosity, and creativity.
