Manama: The Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) will launch the HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad MMA Open Championship 2025 on Thursday, February 27, at Khalifa Sports City. The event will feature teams from clubs, centres, and academies specialising in MMA, as well as participants from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the official weigh-in for all participants is scheduled for Thursday, February 27, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am at Khalifa Sports City, with the competitions set to commence at 5:00 pm. Mohammed Ali Qambar, President of the BMMAF, expressed gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his unwavering support of MMA. Qambar noted HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad's significant role in advancing the sport, improving athletes' performance, and helping Bahrain gain global recognition in MMA.
Qambar also stressed the BMMAF's commitment to hosting local championships as part of its strategic plans under the guidance of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, led by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA. These efforts are focused on developing combat sports, particularly MMA, and driving continued success. He highlighted that the championship will serve as a platform to identify exceptional talent, supporting the formation of national teams for future competitions.
