Manama, Member of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Sonya Mohammed Janahi, has called for strengthening the role of women in various fields and sectors in order to achieve the goals of comprehensive development.
She stressed that development efforts cannot achieve their goals without real empowerment of women that ensures their participation in the prosperity and progress of the country by relying on their capabilities in giving, excellence and leadership in all fields of work, given the fact that they are a basic pillar within Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
While participating in a webinar held by the International Labour Organisation on improving women’s leadership skills, Janahi asserted that women’s acquisition of leadership skills contributes effectively to activating their leading role at various work sites.
She added that Bahrain has taken unprecedented steps to increase women’s representation and leadership responsibilities in the public and private sectors, with a focus on gender balance to achieve a sustainable impact on integrating women’s needs and ensuring equal opportunities for men and women, which provides a diverse workforce to serve the Kingdom.
Janahi called on female entrepreneurs to keep pace with technological development in all their plans, given its role in the economic development process, noting that Bahrain has given priority to the technological to diversify its national economy, and achieve the goals of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
She indicated that technology is essential in enhancing complementarity among countries in the fields of business and economy.
She affirmed that Bahraini women play an integral role in various aspects of life, alongside men, stressing the importance of spreading the technological culture among female entrepreneurs to support sustainability, and invest in expanding local support to ensure the activation of their model, as technology plays a key role in speeding up production and delivery, as well as in keeping pace with global initiatives.
