Bayern Munich Sets Record with 10-0 Victory Over Auckland City

NEW YORK: Bayern Munich recorded a historic 10-0 win over New Zealand's Auckland City in the opening match of Group C at the Club World Cup currently held in the United States. The Bavarian team ended the first half leading 6-0, with goals from Kingsley Coman (two), Sacha Boey, Michael Olise (two), and Thomas Mller. In the second half, Jamal Musiala scored a hat-trick to raise the team's tally to nine goals, before Mller sealed the match with the tenth goal in the 90th minute.

According to Bahrain News Agency, with this overwhelming victory, Bayern Munich set several new records in the tournament's history, achieving the biggest win ever in the competition. This surpassed Saudi Al Hilal's 6-1 win over UAE's Al Jazira in the 2021 edition. The match also set the record for the highest-scoring game in the tournament, breaking the previous record of eight goals set on three occasions.

This edition of the tournament features a record 32 teams for the first time in history and will continue until July 14. Bayern Munich leads Group C by a wide margin and faces tougher matches against Argentina's Boca Juniors and Portugal's Benfica on June 21 and 24 respectively.

Auckland City, the team with the most appearances in the tournament's history, now faces an almost impossible task to remain in the competition after this heavy defeat and will need a miracle in the next two matches to avoid elimination in the group stage.
