Valletta:Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, participated in the 26th World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit in Valletta, Malta, from October 7 to 9, 2026. The event gathered leading experts and decision-makers from the global travel and tourism sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Minister joined other ministers and global CEOs in the "Global Leaders Dialogue" session. Discussions centered on the shifts impacting competitiveness in the travel and tourism industry, focusing on enhancing destinations' adaptability to global changes, facilitating travel and capital movement, and fostering partnerships between governments and the private sector to boost investment and sustainable growth.
Bahrain's participation was at the invitation of the WTTC, in cooperation with the Malta Tourism Authority. It underscored the Kingdom's commitment to engaging in international forums, exchanging expertise, and exploring future trends and practices in travel and tourism.
The summit, themed "Future (RE)set: Shaping the Future of Travel and Tourism," explored significant transformations in the sector and future opportunities for growth and investment. It addressed seamless travel experiences, the influence of artificial intelligence, sustainability, innovation, and technology's role in reshaping the travel and tourism ecosystem.
The WTTC Global Summit is a prominent international platform that brings together public and private sectors to discuss future policies and opportunities for supporting the travel and tourism sector's growth and its contribution to the global economy.
