Geneva: Dr. Bassam Ismail Al BenMohammed, Member of the Shura Council and representative of the Parliamentary Delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated alongside MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, in a panel discussion titled "Innovating for a Peaceful Future, Crafting New Solutions for a Turbulent World." This discussion was part of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in cooperation with the United Nations, held in Switzerland.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al BenMohammed emphasized Bahrain's commitment to advancing peaceful innovation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He highlighted the kingdom's efforts to establish a national framework promoting innovation in governance, enhancing digital transparency, and broadening opportunities for youth and civil society to engage in decision-making.
Dr. Al BenMohammed reviewed Bahrain's achievements in creating a legislative environment that supports peaceful innovation. This includes the enactment of pioneering laws such as the Personal Data Protection Law, the Cybercrime Law, and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Law, as well as legislation on entrepreneurship and intellectual property. These efforts reflect a political will to use innovation as a tool for serving citizens and fostering sustainable peace.
He further stressed that innovation for peace is a deliberate political act, evident in the development of legislative tools and inclusive models that embrace societal diversity. Dr. Al BenMohammed noted that every law, oversight form, and partnership built on fairness is an innovation in the service of human stability.
